Biography

Troels joined Barclays as Group CISO on 1st February 2015 and in December 2016 he was appointed to Group CSO, overseeing a new horizontal Security organization that includes: Group Cyber Security (GIS), Group Physical Security, Group Intelligence, Group Investigation, Group Resilience and the newly established Joint Operation Centre’s (JOC) located in UK, India and US. Troels reports to the Group Chief Operations Officer and is a member of O&T/Group Service Company Executive Committee.

Before joining Barclays Troels held the position as the first Director of the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3), an EU wide centre in Europol with the task to assist Law Enforcement agencies protecting EUs 500 Million citizens from cybercrime. Before being appointed to Head of EC3, Troels held the position as Assistant Director in Europol’s Organized Crime Department and Counter Terrorist Department. He has also held positions as Director of the Danish Serious Crime Agency and Director of Operation in the Danish Security Intelligence Service.

Troels has been an external lecturer in cybercrime to several Universities and his Barclays Cyber Security team has been awarded several times as the best in the industry.  He holds several international advisory roles amongst them: Special Advisor to Interpol, Board member of the Cyber Defense Alliance, Global Agenda Council on Cyber Security of the WEF, the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre, Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford and he is Chairman of the Global Cyber Alliance.
In his spare time, he likes to enjoy the nature; fishing, sailing, hiking and is also presently trying to get a private pilots certificate.
He is the author of a Thriller: Operation Gamma – published in Denmark, and many academic articles.
