IPA and Strategic Resilience Group Host Second Virtual Writing Lab

The Strategic Resilience Group LLC and IPA conducted its second, of hopefully many, virtual writing labs to provide online writing support, camaraderie, and resources to information professionals interested in independent research, writing, publication, and business development often extending the services offered by traditional, on-campus writing centers.

Attendees included several researchers, writers, and business developers with interests in cognitive security, decision making, irregular warfare, and resiliency from locations ranging for New York City, Northern Virginia, North Carolina Sandhills, and the beaches of Florida.  We are pleased to add Nate Fisk from the University of Southern Florida (USF), Doug Jordan from Joint Special Operations University (JSOU), and Adel Hussain a US Army Officer associated with the Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (USACAPOC). Their participation added new depth to our discourse.

The guest speaker was Mr. Thomas Vizcarrondo IV.  Tommy, a retired Psychological Operations Soldier, is the CEO and Lead Creative Director for Safe Kids Internet Playground (SKIP). SKIP is an innovative and dynamic organization that’s on a mission to empower young minds! With a thoughtfully crafted structure and a lively approach, SKIP offers year-round training, engaging education, and inspiring mentorship for elementary school-aged children, their parents, and administrators. Tommy provide the Writing Lab with his business elevator pitch and development concept, fielding questions and input from our participants focusing on his target audience and recommendations on his business plan. The guidance provided was applicable to other participants diving into academic or action-based research.

A participant, Mr. Jordan, highlighted a recent JSOU Press Release Call for Special Operations Papers for the 2026 academic year https://jsou.edu/Press, as well as the Special Operations Research Topics – 2026 that he edited and published https://jsou.edu/Press/PublicationDashboard/281.

Scott Weaver submitted an entry to the Irregular Warfare Initiates Indo-Pacific Writing Contest titled, “Strategic Pen Pals – Strengthening Regional Partnerships Through Authentic Communications.” If selected, it will be published on the Irregular Warfare Initiative website https://irregularwarfare.org/category/articles/.
