The Information Professionals Association is pleased to co-host Phoenix Challenge 2022 with the University of Maryland’s Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS), on behalf of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (OUSD-I&S) and in coordination with the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy (OUSD-P). The event will be held in person at the SECRET level and Secure VTC link is available for select participants. A draft agenda is available here as well as on the ARLIS website.
Phoenix Challenge 2022 is the first in a series of DoD-sponsored workshops intended to inform departmental efforts supporting Information Advantage and Cognitive Security. This conference series will also support the Information Operations Posture Review (IOPR), as required by Section 1631 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2020.
Phoenix Challenge 2022’s theme is the contribution of current and future capabilities and technologies to improve DoD’s ability to gain and maintain information advantage, including the challenges of misinformation and disinformation. Notably, this conference incorporates USCENTCOM’s annual Information Operations Conference. The next event in the series will be the Symposium on Information Strategy and Political Warfare (SISPOW) held June 21-23, 2022 in College Park, MD.
As a co-host, IPA and its members support the Phoenix Challenge series in a number of ways. IPA provides an interface for engagement with industry, participates in event planning, and provides financial support for networking events. IPA is also involved in the development of the agenda and provides speakers for Phoenix Challenge sessions and at IPA events in support of Phoenix Challenge. IPA also provides promotional support and outreach, note taking and documentation of Phoenix Challenge events, social media engagement, and thought leadership through its membership.
