Syracuse’s racist AirDrop incident is the terrifying future of information warfare

Syracuse University in upstate New York has been rocked by an escalating series of racist incidents that have ultimately prompted the involvement of the FBI and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. While racist provocation on college campuses is nothing new, the volume of back-to-back incidents and the means through which they’ve been communicated has led to an uproar, with students refusing to attend class and even leaving campus.

Editor’s note:  Whoever did this understands perfectly how to leverage human behavior in an already tense situation with highly divisive attitudes on each side.  Although the perpetrators have the support of very few, the impact on the entire population and much of the city of Syracuse has been dramatic.  We’ve seen this before in conflict zones and I expect to see it again both in conflict zones and throughout the western world.
