Role of Communicators in Countering the Malicious Use of Social Media

NATO’s Center of Excellence for Strategic Communication put forth several reports this month.  Lund University’s James Pamment and Henrik Agardh-Twetman authored, Role of Communicators in Countering the Malicious Use of Social Media.  Sweden has some experience on the topic and this blog recently highlighted that government and Lund University’s great work here.

The short 15-page brief is divided into three sections: understanding, identifying and counteracting information influence activities. The Understanding section covers definitions, diagnostics and vulnerabilities. Identifying provides a basis for analyzing the narratives, target groups and techniques used in information influence activities. Counteracting covers preparation, action and learning.

Worth a read.
