David Acosta, COL, US Army Reserve, is a Professor of Practice of Technical Operations in the Information Environment at the Naval Postgraduate School and Commander, 2nd Brigade, 91st Training Division, headquartered in Denver, Colorado. In previous assignments on Active Duty and in the Reserves, Dave served as an Information Operations (IO) planner at Headquarters, Stabilization Forces, in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina; Deputy IO Chief for Headquarters, 1st Armored Division in Iraq and Germany; and Commander, 303d IO Battalion, at Camp Parks, California. He is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School’s Master of Information Operations program where his thesis focused on Hezbollah’s use of deception in the 2006 War with Israel. Dave also attended the Army War College where he wrote on the information realities of the War in Ukraine and co-taught a course on Joint Warfighters and the Information Environment. He is currently a PhD student at Old Dominion University and resides with his family in Mandeville, Louisiana.
